[YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.] 5/26/2006 09:52:00 PM
we drank whiskey
and belted out
spirituals
i couldn't help
but wonder if
dead ex-slaves
were rejoicing
in the heavens
or rolling
in their graves
BUT IT FELT GOOD
to sing those songs
like we meant them
and belted out
spirituals
i couldn't help
but wonder if
dead ex-slaves
were rejoicing
in the heavens
or rolling
in their graves
BUT IT FELT GOOD
to sing those songs
like we meant them

[BE HONEST] It's a new day
I've been around for much of it. The story about the Avail picture resonates in my head now (if you dont know, just ask). I missed that show, though I remember who did go. Hesse gave us a name for it. Regardless of names we see each other and respond. Its not always dramatic, though often a rush comes with the realization that we are not alone. Its easy to forget these things on your way to work at ten pm. Its just as easy to remember.
Years later we see some of the effects. Its the koan about a butterfly, read out loud in an empty forest. All of us hear it at the same time, and the light in our eyes burns so hot it dissappears from our sight.
Everyone looks for the camera holder; he can only dream to capture the essence of someone in the midst of their work as our eyes find him. It won't be long until he catches us. Who will record that moment?
Three hours developed into a week long extravaganza. We haven't even seen it happen yet, and it's more real than my oatmeal breakfast. We always had aspirations, but even the visionary didn't see it growing like this. A letter once circulated, describing the possibilities of combined effort. An event program carried the declaration, "Gestalt!" Now we begin to see the meaning of the esoteric description, "...at once many things..."
This picture is for Joe Shafer, because someone always carries a tradition.

[clydetron5000] New 32 bit images with HDR format...
The new version of Photoshop supports a 32 bit 'HDR' format that allows one to combine many varying exposures of the same image into one image with a 'High Dynamic Range'. With a little patience and experimenting, this format has alot of potential to eleviate problems shooting scenes with very bright or very dark areas. 'Bracketing' your chrome film now has new potential...

[ParaBellum Media Group]
At last year's Northeast Kingdom Music Fest this video played while the song was performed live! Bigg Rodd compiled these images to a track he, True MC, and DRE the StarChild laid down last summer over Scarface's "G-Code", which in itself is an awe inspireing track (We dont talk to police!). This is some heavy war imagery with lyrics to match, so play it back and pay close attention.

[..............m. powsner..................] the free-wheeling, the forlorn
we are on a month (or more) long road trip taking photos across the country.... surviving on oranges and peanuts and the occasional meal from the occasional benefactor. my friend mikael and i have started an organization called the BPPF (the broke photographer's petrol fund) and we are now accepting donations to combat the ridiculous gas prices (up to 3.60 per gallon in cali). this was probably not the most economical time to take a road trip but here we are on the other side of the country and it would be fun to make it home for summertime so we don't have to camp out in south dakota indefinately. so, a dime, a dollar, five dollars, it all = gas in our tank. we will even send you a present or a postcard or stop by to visit you.

i am driving around the country taking pictures right now, living of off peanuts, tecate, oranges, and free meals. my friend mike and i have started an organization called the BPPF (the broke photographer's petrol fund) we are now accepting donations to combat the ridiculous gas prices (3.59 per gallon in cali), probably this was not the best time to take a road trip but here we are on the otherside of the country. so, a dime, a dollar, five dollars, it all = gas in our tank. maybe we will even send you a present or stop by to visit you.
