[Nine37 Productions Home] HIP HOP IN THE HILLS 2006!

Nine37 Productions and Para Bellum Media Group are proud to present the first annual HIP HOP IN THE HILLS festival, on August 19th, 2006. For one whole day, and well into the night, come together with hip hop heads from all over the state of Vermont for a celebration of the local culture and the birth of a new tradition. The current lineup of artists includes a compendium of Vermont based MCs, DJs, graffiti artists and breakdance crews who will be presenting live all day long. Special guests are TBA, but by the end of the week we will let you know (rumors hold strong of certain NYC underground cats). Tickets will be available online on JULY 3, so please show your support early on - we all play our part in making this happen.

Artists, Vendors, Advertisers and anyone else interested in getting involved with the production should click the above image and follow the links for your area of interest.

[YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.] For those of you that don't already know...

I'm quitting my job to make art full time.

I'll be collaborating with a budding art collective in Portland called the "Trash Factory" (as one of the founders) and Nine37, as well as trying to get a bunch of solo shows and running my own website. I'm a little nervous, but I think I've got the gusto to make it happen and the work to back it up.

Here's to jumping off of big cliffs and secretly hoping the river beneath will carry you away.

[YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.] We're all in this together.

These are all part of a series that I'm trying to find a place to show in Portland.

All paintings are 27"x 40" and painted on the backs of movie posters with house paint and ink.

I also plan on making a bunch of these one-of-a-kind back patches and selling them at the show.

[YOU'VE GOT TO DO SOMETHING.] .

your words rang true
cracked like our inner liberty bells
yet still singing sweetly in swells
a monument
to our synchronicity
perfect in its simplicity
silence is still golden but
it's not the method I've chosen
to communicate, tongues frozen
and unable to connect
I've analyzed that defect
and been empowered to change it
my deflowered arrangement
tied tightly and left upside down to dry out in the sun
that will melt our cold bodies together into one
and I don't want to wait for a lover so if
you've got plans then I will make some others
but if you're not busy let's get under covers and
give that fucking sun something good to rise over

[Nine37 Productions Home] PUFF 2006 First Night Explosion

The Summer 2006 Portland Underground Film Festival has gotten off to a great start. The opening night featured two films, each which drew a good sized audience: Rodman Flender's "Let Them Eat Rock", a documentary about Boston rock band The Upper Crust, and Reverend Phil's local Bike Mayhem program of PDX cyclist movies and fun. From there everyone rallied to the Aalto Lounge for a party sponsored by New Deal Vodka; needless to say it was a great time for all.

Its just after Seven PM and Jay Edwards is presenting his "Stomp!Shout!Scream!" beach-party rock'n'roll monster movie is playing on the screen. At 9:15 Jason Gilbert will be presenting his film, "The Coat Room", as the PUFF merriment continues.

Congratulations to all involved, the Clinton Street Theater and the Filmmakers especially.
