[Nine37 Productions Home] NINE37 IN 2007!

We are two months into the year and it is going to be a good one. Nine37 affiliated projects are cooking on multiple burners and we are going to celebrate with the biggest Five Town Massive in December! Here is whats been happening:

The Five Town Massive, Vol. 8
ushered in the new year with five days of arts events, including spoken word performances, a gallery exhibition (which continued on for the past two months at Tully and Marie's restaurant in Middlebury, VT) featuring Elena Peabody and Leah Thibault, a raging Hip Hop show that featured Project Mockingbird, The Green Mountain Militia, The G-13 Crew and ended with an hour of crust metal from Minefield. The last two nights featured music from Brown Bird, Austin Sirch, Seth Powsner, and Sputnik, with two completely different short film programs topping it all off. It was a huge success for everyone involved and a great time was had by the whole community.

Since then we have been gearing up for next year's festival, reaching out to high-school video programs and developing new strategies to make it more massive than ever. We aim to build partnerships with VT-based businesses that want to support this type of community project, so if you are interested in getting involved, let us know at: info@fivetownmassive.com

On another note VTHIPHOP.COM, a website originally maintained for last year's Hip Hop in The Hills music festival, is being reborn as the one-stop resource for Vermont Hip Hop.This includes the Vermont Graffiti Library, profiles for Vermont-based musicians and dancers, and
an updated calender of events around the state. Artists and promoters should check it out and send their info to: info@vthiphop.com

Speaking of Hip Hop, longtime Nine37 affiliates DMLH and SHERMSTIXX are once again living in the same region (Portland, OR) and have begun recording a new project. No one knows quite what to expect: the last time these two were living together saw the rise of THE G-13 CREW from a group of old friends to a respected mountainside rap conglomerate. Speaking of the G-13, True MC and Bigg Rodd/Patient Xero are executive producing the third full length G-13: Northern Wolves compilation, set to feature new material from themselves, Green Mountain Militia, DMLH, Shermstixx, DRE and perhaps a few others.

Jason Gray
is also on his way to Portland, and leaves his previous post in Roxbury, MA, with a batch of new material. Nine37PDX awaits his arrival with high hopes; download some of his new songs on myspace and let him know what you think.

Nina Posdamer
is finishing her final semester at SUNY Purchase and bringing together a project that we are all very excited about: The Nine37 Interview Magazine. Nina has interviewed a number of artists and musicians about their involvement with Nine37 movement and the Five Town Massive, and is relating their stories through her masterful design aesthetic. Featuring new portraits by Mikael Kennedy and interviews with the directors of the group, The Nine37 Interview Magazine is going to be a beautiful introduction for people new to Nine37, and a celebration of our story for those that have been here since the beginning. This will be available later in the year, so check in for updates.

That's just the first half of the year. As more projects take shape, we will post all info here, so check back in and stay in touch!
